500kVA Oil Immersed Transformer Delivered for Gold Mining Project in Ghana
In March 2025, Zisheng completed the production and delivery of a 500kVA 11/0.415kV oil immersed transformer for a gold mining project in Kumasi, Ghana. The customer is a local power equipment distributor serving industrial and mining projects across West Africa.
Before placing the order, the client compared several suppliers from China and Vietnam. Their main concerns were whether the transformer could operate reliably in high-temperature outdoor environments and whether the actual configuration would fully meet the project specifications.
After multiple technical discussions, Zisheng engineering team optimized the transformer design according to the customer’s load conditions and local grid requirements. The final solution adopted:
Full copper winding design
ONAN cooling method
High-permeability silicon steel core
Anti-corrosion outdoor tank structure
Customized protection and cable connection configuration
To ensure product reliability, the transformer completed routine factory testing before shipment, including:
Turns ratio test
Winding resistance test
Insulation resistance test
Temperature rise inspection
Oil leakage and pressure testing
The customer also arranged a third-party inspection before delivery. All test results successfully met IEC standards and project requirements.
After final inspection, the transformer was carefully packed and transported to Tianjin Port for shipment. The equipment was loaded into a container with reinforced anti-moisture protection to ensure safety during long-distance sea transportation to Ghana.
The transformer arrived at the project site within the agreed delivery schedule and was successfully installed by the local engineering team. After commissioning, the equipment has been operating continuously with stable voltage output, low operating noise, and reliable performance under high ambient temperatures and unstable grid conditions.
According to customer feedback, the transformer significantly improved the stability of the mining site’s power distribution system and reduced unexpected downtime caused by voltage fluctuation. Due to the positive operating performance, the client later expressed interest in additional transformer procurement for future mining expansion projects.
